Exciting Day For Passion/sixsteps Family!

With amazing visions of the last World Tour leg dancing vividly in our heads, our team is back in the USA and massively excited about today’s launch of two projects we’ve been waiting and working on for months!.

Last night we were with the Crowders in Austin for the theater release of the Remedy Club Tour DVD, the first full-length concert DVD from DC*B and a bundle of happiness.  The concert, filmed in NYC and Atlanta on the Remedy Club Tour, was shown on close to 100 screens across the nation last night to launch the DVD/CD release in stores everywhere today.  While the concert footage looked phenomenal on the huge screen of Austin’s Galaxy 10, the DVD contains more stuff than you can imagine.  If you love DC*B’s music it’s a must have.  And if you’re really into how the guys play the songs you’re going to flip out with all the extra content.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, there’s a live concert CD included!

Tonight, we’ll be with Charlie Hall here in Atlanta as his band launches their newest offering, The Bright Sadness.  All I can say about this one is that Charlie is one of the most honest writers you’ll ever find, brilliantly crafting songs about the redemptive hope of God without minimizing the arduous struggle of life in a broken world.  The album is amazing!  [I'm hoping all of you who maxed out our crazy pre-order and have received yours can attest to that!]  It’s so Charlie:  Unique.  Powerful.  True.

For us [especially Mike and Shelley with sixsteps and our friends at EMI CMG] these projects are works of love, sweat and tears.  We are so proud of what these guys are bringing to the world and pray favor on every disc as the music explodes for His fame in people’s hearts around the world.  Enjoy!

PS- I just saw The Bright Sadness at #24 on iTunes!

Halfway Home

It’s 1:30 AM local time in Dakar, Senegal (West Africa) and Shelley and I are waiting to connect to the JoBurg-Atlanta flight which is stopping here soon, the last leg of a journey that has literally taken us around the globe in eighteen days.  A stunning Cape Town sunset sent us on our way tonight, a color-rich memory of a five-city world tour leg that just simply cannot be put into words.  We’ve touched down in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Johannesburg and Cape Town, places as diverse as can be, yet in many ways the same.  We’ve met 31,000 new friends, from UCT students in Cape Town to a Princess in Manila.  And we have heard the roar of an awakening generation that transcends language and culture.

In every place a similar eruption has happened during the night as the words to God Of This City have unfolded on the screens.  Leading up to the chorus the words state: There Is No One Like Our God, There Is No One Like Our God.  Something about that bedrock confession unleashes a sense of faith and hope that gives me chill bumps in every city and turns the atmosphere in the venues from concert to Church, His people united around the world.

And it’s true.  There is no one like our God!  Grace sets Him apart and makes our God-story beautifully unique and irresistible for anyone who as truly seen the cross.  And grace frees us to both live for the One who set us free and believe in its power to change a life, a city and a nation.

A few crazy weeks will pass [Crowder has a DVD release in theaters across the nation Monday and Charlie debuts his new CD in Atlanta on Tuesday night, and that's just the beginning of a hectic stretch] and soon we will be on our way to Mexico City for the start of leg three.  Over 11,000 free tickets have already been claimed for stop one in the heart of Mexico, and that with six weeks to go.  That bodes well for a two-day event we have all been looking forward to, one Cape Town is bridging the gap to with their prayers.  After that we head to Vancouver, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong before a final event in lovely Sydney, where over 6200 tickets have gone. (Crazy!) But for now, it’s a pretty chilled (and notably sparse) Delta Transit lounge in Dakar and a massive amount of gratitude to God for including us in such an amazing endeavor.

The Cape Of Good Hope!

Well, I think it’s safe to say His Church is alive and well in lovely Cape Town as 6000+ faces jammed into the Bellville Velodrome for a fitting end to Leg 2 of the Passion World Tour.  But before we jump in to CT we must say quite well done Jozi!! Way to rock the Blog and send a massive wave of love our way tonight!!  It’s been incredible to see the way you took the baton from Jakarta and passed it on to your friends here tonight and as we came through the doors we could sense that you were really believing for something special here in Cape Town.

Honestly, this whole Tour has been a stunning ride, each city landing with a thunderous ovation and a unique place in God’s unfolding epic that is circling the globe.  But there’s no place we’d rather end this leg that here in Cape Town, a gorgeous convergence of 3 million+ people in a breath-taking collision of land and sea.  And just further down from Cape Point and the heart of CT is the Cape of Good Hope, a potent projection of what this city can be to the nation and what SA can be to the African continent.

Tonight was amazing, but the story of tonight is really the story of tomorrow, a future rooted in the hearts of the generation that worshiped so loudly tonight, believing that greater things have yet to come for Cape Town. It’s tomorrow that our zeal must turn into action as justice becomes ‘love out” as the grace that’s set us free moves us in that freedom to extend mercy and healing to anyone you needs their heart put back together again with God.  Tomorrow, the cross must loom large in our hearts, compelling our hearts and steps to make famous the One who saves.

It was a humbling privilege for our team to be a part of two events on South African soil, two nights we will never forget and ones we pray God will make last forever. Mexico City, you’re up next and there is so much CT love coming your way (not to mention over ZAR 116,000/ US,800!) and the promise of many prayers as Passion wristbands dot the campuses of the Western Cape for weeks to come.

It’s late.  We’re spent.  CT sleeps.  Our God reigns!

Manila-KL-Jakarta-Jozi-Cape Town=WOW!  We love you all!
